Conclusion

In 1746, after the Battle of Culloden, Prince Charles Edward Stuart and his Highland army began their long retreat north. They had to travel a total of nearly 400 miles, and they were pursued by the Duke of Cumberland’s army the whole way. Fort William was their final destination, and they reached it on August 19th.
